KPO executive assaulted By Nitin Paul
A HR executive of a Gurgaon-based KPO firm was beaten black and blue by his drunken landlords following an altercation over the trivial issue of rent charges of the apartment in which he was living with his wife. The victim, Samir Dev, employed with EMR Technologies in Udyog Vihar suffered serious head injuries and bone fractures. Recuperating in a government-run hospital, Samir is reported to be stable and out of danger.
Samir’s wife was not at home when the incident occurred and had gone to her native place in Sonepat. The incident took place at 11.00 pm on Tuesday when he returned to his rented apartment in Sector 17 from his office. Samir was shocked to see his apartment locked by the landlords. “I was shocked to see that my lock was missing from the main door and it was replaced by another lock installed by my landlord Surender and his brother. When I approached them to find out the reason, the duo along with two more persons (all drunk) attacked me with iron rods,” Samir said. He said that Surender and his accomplices, who were waiting for him as part of a planned attack, hit him on his head, chest, arms, legs and on the back.
Samir somehow managed to call the police officers who reached the spot and rushed him to the hospital. The doctors attending to Samir said that they had to stitch his head at six places as it was bleeding profusely. He also had a fracture in one of his legs and one finger. The injured Samir who regained consciousness in the morning in the hospital told Techgoss that his landlords had been torturing him for the past three months for increasing the rent for the apartment. His only fault was that he objected to his apartment being locked by the landlords after he returned from his work.
Bizarrely, the landlord has leveled theft charges against Samir in turn, saying that he tried to burgle another apartment in the neighborhood, said a police official investigating the case. “For now the landlords have fled and it is their relatives who have leveled theft charges against Samir,” the officer said. The relatives are protesting that the landlords are innocent.
